Source:The Daily Journal- from a different Daily Journal.

I stopped adding news posts to this blog back in 2009, and almost exclusively blog for The New Democrat now. But there's still some real interests in this blog and I'm still going through and updating all of my posts on The Daily Journal to try to keep it up to date as possible.

What I want to do with this page is to let my viewers see what I'm doing online, especially on social media and share some of those posts like my photos, videos, and status updates to this blog on my page through my TwitterPinterestInstagram, and hopefully eventually my YouTube page. And I hope you find this page interesting.

8/19/2021 - Julia (played by Dixie Carter) letting Marjorie Lee Winnick (played by Pamela Bowen) have it, on this episode of #DesigningWomen. You don't mess with the Sugarbaker women, especially their sisters, if you know what's good for you.

8/27/2021 - Hollywood Goddess Eileen Davidson, I believe when she was still on Days Of Our Lives over at NBC. If someone told me she was Anita Ekberg's daughter, I could easily believe them. Tall, gorgeous, sexy, baby face blonde, with a little girly and yet sexy voice.

Who's Dated Who: "Who is she dating right now? Eileen Davidson and Vincent Van PattenVincent Van Patten and Eileen Davidson have been married for 18 years since 15th Apr 2003. Relationships: Eileen Davidson was previously married to Jon Lindstrom (1997 - 2000) and Christopher Mayer (1985 - 1988). Eileen Davidson has been in a relationship with Jon Voight (1989 - 1991). 9/01/2021 - Reelz with an excellent documentary of Hollywood Babydoll Elizabeth Taylor from a few years ago. At least arguably the best actress of her generation and perhaps the cutest Hollywood brunette ever.

Reelz: "Elizabeth Taylor had scoliosis (curved spine) and multiple back surgeries, among many other health problems. To manage her pain she took pain killers, but did she start to take too many? Did her addiction contribute to her death of cardiac arrest? Take a first look at an all new episode of Autopsy, and watch the whole episode on Sunday, May 6, at 9ET/PT."

9/02/2021 - The Lizard King and Jim Morrison and The Doors, performing at the Hollywood Bowl in 1968. It's easy to see why he is known as The Lizard King with his ability to move and dance around in his patent, skin-tight leather jeans and cowboy boots, regardless of what you think of his music. He's definitely one of the sexiest men who has ever lived.

9/03/2021 - Jimmy Stewart and Hollywood Babydoll Grace Kelly, in Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window, from 1954. Even though Jimmy is old enough to be Grace's father in real-life (and even looks older than that) I still think they worked well together and had excellent comedic timing in this film.

The Guardian: "The first time I watched Rear Window, I was 14 or 15 and living in a remote part of Ireland. There was a mile and several hills between us and our nearest neighbours, so the concept of looking out the window and being able to closely survey the lives of an entire community was alien to me, and totally fascinating. I was nurturing an ambition to visit New York at the time and Rear Window, more than any other film I'd seen, gave me a powerful sense of that city's atmosphere: noisy, breathless, intoxicating – even though the whole thing was filmed inside a Hollywood studio."

6/14/2022 - Derik Schneider: I think this is from the first scene in Out of The Past where Jeff Bailey (played by Robert Mitchum) meets Kathie Moffat (played by Jane Greer) but I don't know for sure. 6/15/2022 - Derik Schneider: Point Blank is one of the best film noir movies ever. Of course it's a 1960s film and it's a lot hipper than the moves from the 40s and 50s, but it's in the same league as Out of The Past, Dark Passage, and other great film noirs.

Trailers From Hell: "John Boorman's dreamily stylized adaptation of a Donald E. Westlake novel was way ahead of its time, adapting New Wave techniques to produce a deliberately alienating effect that confused and annoyed the brass at MGM, and might even be a moment-of-death flashback. Lee Marvin's greatest role. Remade more conventionally as Payback in 1999."

6/16/2022 - Derik Schneider: Walker (played by Lee Marvin) kicking two asses and taking two names, at the same time.

Warner Archive: "They double-crossed Walker, took his $93,000 cut of the heist and left him for dead, but they didn't finish the job. Big mistake. He - someday, somehow - is going to finish them. Lee Marvin is in full antihero mode as remorseless Walker, talking the talk and walking the walk in John Boorman's (Deliverance) edgy neo-noir classic filled with imaginative New Wave style, blunt dialogue and Walker's relentless quest that, one by one, smashes into the corporate pecking order of a crime group called the Organization.

6/28/2022 - Derik Schneider: The greatest offensive player and scorer in NBA history, one of the best defenders ever. As far as I'm concern Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the great two-way player in NBA history.

The Key number to think about Kareem is 33, which is also his jersey number: 6 time NBA champion, 6 time NBA MVP, 2 time NBA Finals MYP, and 19 time NBA all star. No other NBA player comes close to that. It's not about personal statistics alone that makes NBA players great, but what their talent and play brings to their team and the game. No one brought more or lead their team better, no NBA player accomplished more than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

9/27/2022 - Derik Schneider: I think the term Hollywood Goddess, should've been specifically written for Lauren Bacall. Great voice and face, obviously, but great personality, great sense of humor, great intelligence, and perhaps the greatest actress who ever lived on Planet Earth as well.

Vintage, The Golden Age: "LAUREN BACALL, THE NEW LOOK OF NOIR

Lauren Bacall, nicknamed "The Look," was one of the last remaining vestiges of the golden age of Hollywood — with the mythology, unique beauty, and gravitas of all classic stars.

Lauren Bacall was a woman of sharp angles: the arch of her famous brows, the turn of her squared shoulders, the exacting line of her cinched '40s suits. Her clipped speech, her exacting language. But there was a softness, too: the rolling waves of hair, the feline eyes, the plump — if always set — mouth. Bacall's voice was husky like a man's, yet strangely soothing. While watching clips of her last night, I had an overwhelming desire to fall asleep to a loop of her voice. She might steal your wallet as soon as you drift off, but that's just fulfilling her cinematic role as a femme fatale: There's danger in those curves.

Of course, she appeared in many great movies in her career, including the noirs Dark Passage (1947) and Key Largo (1948) with Bogart, but she never re-created the femme fatale persona. Still, Bacall will always be remembered for her first two films, which shattered stereotypes and led to a new type of independent woman in Hollywood."

10/26/2022 - Derik Schneider: I think Baltimore has always been a major sports arena away from having an NHL franchise. The Baltimore Civic Arena has always been better suited for college basketball and indoor soccer, not NBA basketball and NHL hockey. Also, for NHL hockey to work, the Clippers or whatever the Baltimore club would be called, would have to be in a different division and conference than the Capitals, because of how close Baltimore is to Washington. But Baltimore has always supported the Capitals well and minor league hockey has done fairly well there.

Never planning to become an actor, nonetheless she performed on stage in college and was talked into doing screen tests. She was signed by MGM while still at college, though she made sure to complete her degree before signing with an agent. She soon became Donna Reed, a name she didn’t like, because of anti-German feeling during wartime. “I hear ‘Donna Reed’ and I think of a tall, chic, austere blonde that isn’t me,” she said. “‘Donna Reed’—it has a cold forbidding sound.” I suddenly find I’ve seen her in more movies than I thought, as she was kept busy in the early forties, often in episodes of series: Shadow of the Thin Man, The Courtship of Andy Hardy and Dr. Gillespie’s Criminal Case. While those were often surprisingly good and well received films, she also made quality standalones like Eyes in the Night, The Man from Down Under and The Picture of Dorian Gray."

He was sort of a combination of Larry Bird and Dirk Novitski as far as the skills, size, strength, and athletic ability that he had. Derik Schneider: Just saw Ocean's Eleven for like the 20th time last night. I don't think this is a great movie, but it's a very entertaining and funny movie, with an all star cast and beautiful, adorable women in it. More than enough to get me to see this film multiple times.

Rotten Tomatoes: Danny Ocean (Frank Sinatra) calls on some of his World War II buddies -- including Jimmy Foster (Peter Lawford), Sam Harmon (Dean Martin) and Josh Howard (Sammy Davis Jr.) -- to pull off an elaborate New Year's Eve heist at five casinos in Las Vegas. Eleven members of Danny's crew come together to pull off a perfect robbery, but they suffer a series of setbacks when Duke Santos (Cesar Romero), a former gangster, tries to thwart Ocean's plans to disappear with the money.

12/28/2022 - Derik Schneider: Hollywood Goddess Angie Dickinson and The Chairman of The Board Frank Sinatra, in Ocean's Eleven, from 1960. She didn't have a big role in this film, but it was very important.

That Movie Scene: Whether it was intended to be or not the original "Oceans' Eleven" comes across as a movie made for Frank Sinatra and his rat pack cohorts, so much so that as well as the main hub of the pack other token members such as Angie Dickinson also get to star. It's actually in some ways not a bad thing because the natural friendship of the cast comes across on film, dialogue for the most flows naturally and often feels unscripted. But it's also its downfall because it appears that the cast are having such a good time, joking with each other that it's impossible to take seriously even though it's not meant to be a comedy.

1/31/2023 - Derik Schneider: I never been to Pittsburgh Three Rivers Stadium, but it always looked beautiful on TV for football, even with the concrete field. And I'm sure it was a great place to watch a football game. This is a great rivalry, when the Bengals and Steelers are both winning.

2/01/2023 - Derik Schneider: This Chargers-Bengals game at Cincinnati Riverfront Stadium, looks like a battle of mediocrity. Combine records of 12-26 that season. But this was Tommy Prothro's first season in San Diego and they were just starting to get very good on both offense and defense. Chargers QB Dan Fouts in the photo.

2/02/2023 - Derik Schneider: Even without Steve Spurrier in the lineup for the 49ers, they still couldn't throw the ball against the Bengals. Playing football at Candlestick Park is hard enough without that concrete field.

2/03/2023 - Derik Schneider: The Seahawks-Broncos matchup was an excellent rivalry in the AFC in the 1980s. Both clubs were consistent winners then and played a lot of great, close, physical games, with great fan atmospheres. Great matchup at the Seattle Kingdome. Harry Kallas with the call of this video.

2/05/2023 - Derik Schneider: Why are today's movies so depressing, confusing, preachy - and interminably long and boring? #linkinbio @dailymail @mailplus

Derik Schneider: Hollywood at its best, represents the state of American culture. Maybe America and the rest of the world, just isn't as interesting as it use to be.

2/06/2023 - Derik Schneider: In 1986, the Los Angeles Raiders got shut out on ABC's MNF, by the Seahawks, at the Seattle Kingdome. So this whipping that they gave the Seahawks, I guess sort of makes up for that, during a bad season for them.

Classic Sports: "This game is known for that famous play but to defend Boz not many LBs in the world ever would be fast enough to go half the field for that play and make it in time and he did get there in time. Bo was just too powerful. And Boz played a really good game also. But the Seahawks on a whole did not play well(spoiler). Next month I will be putting up the game next year on MNF."

2/07/2023 - Derik Schneider: Frank Gifford is the master of the ABC MNF intro. Great voice and delivery and sounded like he was reading what he actually wrote. As far as the game, the Raiders simply forgot to show up mentally and got their asses handed to them by the Seahawks, at the Seattle Kingdome.

2/08/2023 - Derik Schneider: Milwaukee County Stadium was beautiful for baseball, but they should've never played football there. The field was too small and the fans were too far away. Both the Seahawks and Packers had winning records in 1978.

Classic Sports: "Two really talented offenses but it's defense that tells this game particularly turnovers."

Derik Schneider: This is sort of a mediocre game when you look at the records of the New York Jets and Seahawks from 1979. But the Seahawks got pretty good very early on under Jack Patera and were always fun to watch at the Seattle Kingdome.

2/10/2023 - Derik Schneider: Ken Stabler was called Snake for a very good reason: he was always cool under pressure and came through when the Raiders needed him the most. Bill King is hilarious on this call. Another great football game at Jack Murphy Stadium.

2/16/2023 - Derik Schneider: If the Steelers had won this game at Cleveland Municipal Stadium, they would've finished at 11-5. 2/17/2023 - Derik Schneider: The Steelers probably shouldn't have let QB Cliff Stoudt leave for the USFL, because he could've been a good successor to Terry Bradshaw and solved the Steelers QB problems of the 1980s. Good game at Pittsburgh Three Rivers Stadium. The great Harry Kallas with the call of this video.

2/20/2023 - Derik Schneider: Night & The City with Richard Widmark and Hollywood Goddess Gene Tierney. Not a great film, but I'll watch just about anything that has Gene Tierney in it. And it's a good enough film for me to watch.

Rotten Tomatoes: "Londoner Harry Fabian (Richard Widmark) is a second-rate con man looking for an angle. After years of putting up with Harry's schemes, his girlfriend, Mary (Gene Tierney), becomes fed up when he taps her for yet another loan. His latest ploy, promoting an aging Greek wrestler, goes awry when the wrestler dies and everyone points the finger at Harry. Hiding out in a riverfront barge, Harry sees his grand ambitions spiral into a nightmare of fear and desperation as the underworld closes in."

2/28/2023 - Derik Schneider: Earl Weaver is still the greatest manager in Orioles history. And deserved every bit of that beautiful tribute that he got at Baltimore Memorial Stadium.

Jubby Jubb: "Mid way through the 1982 season, Earl Weaver announced he would retire at the end of the year. With four games left to play the Orioles trailed the Milwaukee Brewers by three games. The O's pulled even by winning three straight but lost the finale which would have won them the division. It was an emotional day for Weaver as it is described like no other by Howard Cosell."

3/06/2023 - Derik Schneider: The two key lines in this scene: Josh: "I knew this color would come in handy one day." Jimmy: "Josh, how do you get this stuff off?" This scene as funny as it is and well-written as it was and it's a great, funny scene, with great writing, probably doesn't get filmed today, thanks to the so-called political correctness movement and woke culture.

Ikachina: "Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Peter Lawford don Blackface in Ocean's 11 (1960). Sinatra is known to have performed in Blackface once before, in a two-reel Major Bowes short called The Big Minstrel with his group, The Hoboken Four.
