Biography: Grace Kelly

Source:King, Queens & All That- The Amazing Grace Kelly.

Source:The Daily Review

“American actress Grace Kelly starred in such movies as ‘Dial M for Murder’ and ‘The Country Girl,’ before leaving Hollywood to marry Prince Rainier III of Monaco.

Grace Kelly rose to fame as a leading Hollywood actress following her prominent role in High Noon. Along with her Academy Award-winning performance in The Country Girl, she starred in the Alfred Hitchcock films Rear Window, Dial M for Murder and To Catch a Thief. Kelly left Hollywood behind after marrying Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956, thereby becoming known as Princess Grace. She died in her adopted home country in 1982, following a car accident.”

From Dylan Young

I don’t know of a another woman where the name and word Grace better fits than Grace Kelly. Their parents named her perfectly and I’m not sure there’s a woman who looks more like a princess than Grace Kelly. Perhaps Queen Noor of Jordan, who I believe at least is a better looking Goddess than Grace, looks more like a princess.

The only word I have for Grace Kelly is more. I wish she was in Hollywood longer and did more films and perhaps worked in television where there would have been so much great work for her in either.

And I wish she had lived longer, because similar to Diana Dors, (speaking of goddess’ and princess’s) they both died in their early fifties. Two Hollywood Goddess’s from the Silent Generation, both dying in their early fifties and both women by most accounts living responsible lives. And not big consumers of alcohol and other drugs.

Grace, was a great actress, with a great face, great voice, very charming, good sense of humor. Never looks more than half her age with one of the sweetest baby-faces and voices you would ever see and hear. Who was in great Alfred Hitchcock movies like To Catch a Thief and Rear Window. Where she was the lead actress in both movies where when you see her in those movies it was hard to concentrate on anyone else. Because she was so sweet and well, graceful and just grabbed your attention and made it difficult for you to think about anything else.

In the chase scene in To Catch a Thief where she’s driving with Cary Grant, she looks like a teenage girl going out for a drive with her daddy. That is how sweet she always was and never did anything to suggest she wasn’t that sweet in real-life and not just fooling people with her appearance.

Grace Kelly, not the sexiest actress of all-time and not very sexy compared with a lot of other Hollywood Goddess’s and I believe, because she had a tendency to come off as a kid, because she was so adorable. But other than Elizabeth Taylor I believe Grace is the best actress of her generation. Someone who would have remained a star through the 1960s and even longer than that had she simply wanted that. But I guess it is hard to turn down the opportunity to be a European princess especially in a beautiful country like Monaco.

And again Grace was a woman who looked like a princess and had the personality to match. She was someone of many talents including that as an actress and I wish she just had done that a lot longer.

Michelle Milly: Intimate Portrait Grace Kelly

Source:Michelle Milly-
Source:The New Democrat

The Amazing Grace Kelly, whom I call Grace Kelly, not just because of her first name, but because she was amazing in so many ways was a woman who didn't just look like royalty but was royalty, even though she grew up in Philadelphia. She not only looked like a princess but was the Princess of Monaco until she died in the early 1980s. But before that, she was a hell of an actress who made her mark mostly in the 1950s.

What most impresses me about Grace is her versatility as an actress.  She could play both dead serious and pretty funny in the same movie and was perfect for movies that weren't pure comedies or dramas. I believe that is one of the things that the great director Alfred Hitchcock saw in her when he hired her for films like Rear Window, playing the girlfriend of photographer Jimmy Stewart, who was confined to an apartment with a broken leg. She solved a murder case by spying from his apartment. This is not believable but the movie is very well done.

Another one of my favorite movies starring Grace would be another Hitchcock movie, To Catch a Thief with Cary Grant, which takes place on the French Mediterranean, in which she plays the daughter of a very wealthy woman. Vacationing in France with a lot of expensive jewelry at the high point of a cat burglar's activities, she suspects that Cary Grant, the retired cat burglar, stole her mother's and others' jewelry, but in the end falls in love with him nonetheless.

With Grace Kelly, you are talking about a sexy actress who always looked like she never completely grew up, similar to Marilyn Monroe or Barbara Eden. But she was a real lady and a great actress who again had the versatility and timing that few actresses ever acquired.   She was similar to Elizabeth Taylor or Lauren Bacall, which is what made her unique.  She is still missed today.

Bing Crosby & Grace Kelly: High Society (1956)

Source:Veronique Laurent - Bing Crosby and The Amazing Grace Kelly, in High Society, from 1956.

"The lovely Grace Kelly in her final film role before she retired from acting and became Princess Grace of Monaco."

From Veronique Laurent

I’ve only seen bits and pieces of High Society, which to me anyway as someone who isn’t at least a full-time movie critic, is a pretty overrated movie. But I kind of like this scene, because Grace plays a somewhat stuck up, spoiled, young woman, who doesn’t like her parents that much, especially her father and they don’t approve of her completely. And she wants to get pass that and decides the way to move pass that, is to marry a pretty boring man who no one close to her is crazy about.

Grace Kelly's character's ex-husband (played by Bing Crosby) sees right through that and is telling her, that she could be a special person if she just let her guard down and have feeling for other people’s feelings.

Bing’s character was being sort of a constructive critic towards Grace’s character. A new man Tracy’s life (played by Grace) Mike Connor (played by Frank Sinatra) also sees Tracy’s wall that she has built around herself and tries to knock it down in this movie as well.

Austin Millbarge: ‘A Grace Kelly Tribute (2007)’

Source:Austin Millbarge- The Amazing Grace Kelly appearing in High Society, from 1956. High Society would've been an appropriate nickname for Grace as well.

“No copyrights infringement intended.
My tribute to Grace Patricia Kelly, one of the most beautiful woman of all time, and great actress.
song: Yanni – Face in the photograph
enjoy:-)”

Grace Kelly was one of those special women who had the best of all worlds at least physically. One of the most gorgeous, as well as adorable woman whose ever lived to go along with a nice body. And the only problem is that she died way too soon at fifty-three.

The American Princess I believe is the best and most accurate nickname that you can give Amazing Grace, because that is what she was, even if informally. Because that is how she presented herself and how she carried herself.

Amazing Grace was a gorgeous, baby-face woman, with an incredible voice and personality, as well as intelligence and humor to go with those other qualities. And feeling for other people, that she wasn’t the only important person on the planet. And that all people mattered and were important also.

ABC News: 20/20- Pierre Salinger: Grace Kelly Interview (1982)

Source:World of Flowers- Princess Grace Kelly, being interviewed by Pierre Salinger in 1982.

“Grace Kelly – Her complete last interview: 22 June 1982.”

Princess Baby Face of Monaco, was my first reaction to this video. Because that is the first that I saw and you add that incredible smile that Grace always had and that just adds to that.

She doesn’t look like she aged much since her Hollywood star years of the 1950s. And if there’s one woman who you would think looks like a European princess, it just might be Grace Kelly.

The thing being that Europe is such a diverse place ethnically and Grace looks more like an Anglo princess (being of Irish descent) than a Mediterranean princess.

Sophia Loren would be the Mediterranean princes. (At least in my opinion) But Grace always did have the look and class of royalty from her time growing up Philadelphia, even though you would never guess Philadelphia by the way she talked, all the way up to being Princess of Monaco.

Oscars: Grace Kelly- Receiving an Oscar For Country Girl (1955)

Source:Oscars- The Amazing Grace Kelly, winning an Oscar for Country Girl, in 1955.
"Grace Kelly wins Best Actress for The Country Girl at the 27th Academy Awards. William Holden presents the award."

From Oscars

Never seen The Country Girl, or have even ever heard of The Country Girl. I’ve seen country girls and of course have heard of country girls. And I love them generally, because they tend to be very healthy women physically, who take care of themselves and love how they look and present themselves.

But as far as commenting on that movie, it would be like a blind man trying to land a 747 on someone’s driveway. Why bother risking that, with all the potential fallout that could come as a result.

But I’m familiar with Grace Kelly, the Amazing Grace and can easily see why she won an Oscar for a movie I’ve never heard of. She’s The Amazing Grace after all, who could making talking about the weather sound fascinating. Because that is how great of a voice she had and how great of an actress she was.

Alba Gu Brath: Grace Kelly- 'The American Princess'

Source:Alba Gu Brath- The Amazing Grace Kelly.
"Grace Patricia Kelly (November 12, 1929 -- September 14, 1982) was an American Academy Award-winning actress and Princess consort of Monaco. In April 1956 Kelly married Rainier III, Prince of Monaco, and became styled as Her Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco, and was commonly referred to as Princess Grace."

Source:Alba Gu Brath

The United States has never really ever had official princess’s. The closest we get to that, is the First Lady of the United States, of course the wife of the President of the United States. And in many ways our First Lady, plays the role of a Princess. Someone without official power as it relates to government, but someone who represents the country wherever they go and does have the power to focus on causes she believes in. And push for things to advance whatever cause they believe in. Without the ability to officially require the President or Congress to draft legislation in behalf of their cause.

But the First Lady can bring attention and awareness to whatever cause or causes they believe in. With First Lady Michelle Obama its fighting against obesity in America. for First Lady Nancy Reagan it was fighting against illegal narcotics and drug abuse. But Grace Kelly is about the closest America has ever produced in coming up with a private Princess. Someone who possessed incredible beauty, hotness, (to be blunt or more accurate) baby-face adorable looks, incredible sex appeal. As well as the ability to act and sing and work with some of the best people who’ve ever worked in show business.
