NBC Sports: NBA 1991-NBA Finals-Game 1-Los Angeles Lakers @ Chicago Bulls: Full Game

Source:The New Democrat

Game 1 of the 1991 NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls, Magic vs. Air Jordan, James Worthy vs. Scottie Pippen and I could go on. But this is perhaps the one NBA Finals matchup that every NBA fan wanted to see in 1991. The team of the 1980s and perhaps of all-time, the Los Angeles Lakers, with the player of the 1980s and perhaps of all-time in Earvin Magic Johnson. Vs. who would become the team of the 1990s, with the player of the 1990s and perhaps the player of all-time in Michael Air Jordan. Not every year and perhaps every decade that the NBA produces Super Bowl caliber matchup’s in their championship series. But 1991 was certainly that and had James Worthy and Byron Scott been healthy for the Lakers in this series, we are easily talking about one of the greatest NBA Finals matchup’s of all-time, that would’ve made it back to Chicago for at least game 6, if not game 7 as well.

"1970 NBA Finals G7 New York Knicks vs. Los Angeles Lakers"

From Torontos

The Captain inspiring his team to beat the Lakers in Game 7 to win the 1970 NBA Finals. As many people have said, it wasn’t how Willis Reed played in game 7, but the fact that he was out there and that the Lakers had to try to deal with him, that inspired the rest of the Knicks to do what they needed to do to beat a very good and more talented Lakers team. It’s not like Willis Reed just showed up can scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and shut down Wilt Chamberlain. That’s not what happened here.

"1987 Celtics vs Lakers regular season"

From Old School Sports

I couldn't watch enough NBA basketball back in the 1980s when the Celtics and Lakers ruled. Great rivalry because it had great teams.

Turner Sports: NBA 1989- WCQF Game 1- Portland Blazers @ Los Angeles Lakers: Full Game

"1989 NBA Playoffs G1 Los Angeles Lakers vs. Portland Trailblazers. This is list of games which I'm upload on this channel in next weeks/months. Enjoy people...

From Torontos

Mismatch might be too strong of a term here, because the Portland Blazers were in transition in 1989. They were a consistent, winning team for most of the 1980s, but in 1989 they had two head coaches, because they were losing under head coach Mike Schuler and replaced him with Rick Addleman. And they were also transitioning from ball control offense to a more wide-open offense that was lead by Clyde Drexler and others.

The 1989 Los Angeles Lakers were not as good as the 87 or 88 Lakers, because Kareem was in his last season and was no longer much of a force either on offense or defense. They lost off-guard Byron Scott for most the Western Conference Playoffs. They were still the best team in the West, but probably not considered as the favorite to repeat again as NBA champions. The Lakers weren't as good as they were just in 1988, but clearly had a better team than the Blazers in 1989.
