CBS Evening News: 'Death of LBJ as it Broke (1973)'

Source:CBS News- anchor Walter Cronkite announcing the death of President Lyndon B. Johnson as it broke, in 1973.

"The news came in the middle of a story on talks between the U.S. and Vietnam."

I think to argue that Lyndon Johnson's post-White House life was miserable, might be putting it too strongly. He was financially secure thanks to his big, beautiful ranch in Texas, he had his beautiful wife who he was still in love with and Lady Bird loved him, he had his kids and grandkids. But most of LBJ's life was government and politics. If he never makes it to The White House, he probably dies in the Senate and serves in the Senate for 20-30 years. He was very unhappy being out of Washington and out of government and politics. Which made his everyday life, plus with the health issues, very difficult for him.

Turner Sports: NBA 1989- WCQF Game 1- Portland Blazers @ Los Angeles Lakers: Full Game

Source:Turner Sports- comedian Arsenio Hall taking in the game.

"1989 NBA Playoffs G1 Los Angeles Lakers vs. Portland Trailblazers. This is list of games which I'm upload on this channel in next weeks/months. Enjoy people...

From Torontos

Mismatch might be too strong of a term here, because the Portland Blazers were in transition in 1989. They were a consistent, winning team for most of the 1980s, but in 1989 they had two head coaches, because they were losing under head coach Mike Schuler and replaced him with Rick Addleman. And they were also transitioning from ball control offense to a more wide-open offense that was lead by Clyde Drexler and others.

The 1989 Los Angeles Lakers were not as good as the 87 or 88 Lakers, because Kareem was in his last season and was no longer much of a force either on offense or defense. They lost off-guard Byron Scott for most the Western Conference Playoffs. They were still the best team in the West, but probably not considered as the favorite to repeat again as NBA champions. The Lakers weren't as good as they were just in 1988, but clearly had a better team than the Blazers in 1989.

Lynxsa: Janet Jackson- 'Melbourne, Australia- November, 2011'

Source:Lynxsa- Janet Jackson, Up Close and Personal in Melbourne, Australia. (2011)
"Clips from Janet Jackson's fantastic Number Ones concert, 3 November 2011 at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne"

From Lynxsa

Janet Jackson literally is one of the sexiest dancers of all-time. She has a great body, great style as far as showing off her body and great moves. Plus she has the music and that is what you get from a Janet Jackson show is a woman who is a musical dancer.

Janet is truly is a musical artist and if you're looking for a performer who sits on a stool or stands on stage and sings, but rarely moves other than to acknowledge their audience or band and perhaps their fans, Janet Jackson would be one of the last performers that you would want to go see. She's not somebody you want to watch if you're trying to fall asleep and perhaps want a slow show to finish you off and knock you out.
If anything Janet is an extra caffeinated Dr. Pepper or Starbucks drink for people who need to study for three exams in one night.

Even if you don't like Janet's music, I believe you have to at least give her credit for bringing a lot of energy to her shows and for her effort. She is someone who brings a lot to her shows even if you don't like her performances.

Nina Davisson: Janet Jackson's Pleasure Principle: Seattle (2011)

Source:Nina Davisson- Janet Jackson, live and in concert from Seattle, Washington, in 2011.
"Janet Jackson Pleasure Principle Seattle 2011. McCaw Hall Seattle 8/29/2011
no copyright infringement intended."

From Nina Davisson

Janet Jackson brings so much energy to her performances. When she's is not performing, she must be spending all her free time in the gym working out. Perhaps she's eating energy bars all the time and has a Starbucks kitchen in her house and drink all the caffeine all she wants. I think she would've made a hell of a pro athlete had she decided to go down that road instead of music. Music's huge loss and would have been pro sports great gain.

As far as The Pleasure Principle: it's not one of my favorite songs. Sure! The video is great and very sexy watching Janet dance around in those tight, black Guess denim jeans, with that body. And it's great to see her perform that song live or on video. But the song itself, I don't believe is great music. And maybe that is just me not picking up the point of the song. But that is how I feel about it as a music fan especially an R&B/classic rock fan who has been following Janet Jackson since junior high which for me goes back to the late 1980s. But she always looks and sounds great performing.

As far as Janet Jackson's performance from Seattle, Washington in 2011: I've only seen a few videos on YouTube of that concert, like The Pleasure Principle. But I only focus on her dancing and physical performance of that song. Why? Because again it's not a great song. But to watch one of the best musical dancers Planet Earth has ever produced and to watch her perform that dancing and song, in those skin-tight, black denim, skinny, Levi's jeans and boots, with tight black shirt and short white jacket, with her body, I mean do you real need me to add anything else to this? Forget the song with her dancing like that in that outfit, with that body.

Dr. Martin L. King: Cleveland, Ohio (1967)

Source:WEWS-TV News- Dr. Martin L. King, in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1967.

“Dr Martin Luther King Jr. in Cleveland 1967 WEWS TV

The first sound bite is King speaking about what it will take to stop the rioting in America’s cities.

Carl Stokes was running for mayor of Cleveland and King was in town to get Clevelanders to register to vote.

Stokes would beat Mayor Ralph S. Locher in the primary and beat Republican Seth Taft in the November election to make Stokes the first African American mayor of a major U.S city.

King met with Taft as Taft spoke for opportunity and equality for all citizens.

King talks about Cleveland’s election following Carl Stokes primary victory. You’ll also hear him speak on racial problems in the U.S, as well as how the boycott of Sealtest dairy products in the city is progressing.

The boycott was part of Operation Breadbasket which was used to helped inner city African American residents use their buying/boycotting powers to change hiring and business practices.

Accompanying King at one speech is legendary Clevelander the Reverend E. T. Caviness of Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church.

5:49 King speaking in a discount store parking lot at East 105th Street and St. Clair Avenue, July 28, 1967: I want to say to everybody under the sound of my voice this afternoon that you are somebody. Don’t let anybody make you feel that you are nobody. You are somebody. You have dignity. You have worth. Don’t be ashamed of yourself and don’t be ashamed of your heritage. Don’t be ashamed of your color. Don’t be ashamed of your hair. I am black and beautiful and not ashamed to say it.”

“Every politician respects votes, and we have enough potential voting power here to change anything that needs to be changed. And so let us set out to do it and to do it in no uncertain terms. And finally, I want to say to you that if we will organize like this, we have a power that can change this city.”

King’s last appearance in Cleveland in our archives is from late November 1967. A few months later, King would be dead, killed by assassin James Earl Ray, April 4, 1968.”

From WEWS-TV News

“Cleveland and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. were no strangers to each other, just from the number of film clips in our vault that’s easily said.

My description of the individual appearances and speeches can in no way match the man himself, so please take some time to listen to his powerful words.

Some of the non-speech clips are silent.

King in Cleveland 1963-1965

The earliest film I was able to find of King in Cleveland is dated May 14, 1963.”

Source:WEWS-TV News- Dr. Martin L. King, in Cleveland Ohio, in 1967.

From WEWS-TV News

I wanted to write a blog about Dr. Martin Luther King’s Poor People’s Campaign that he launched in 1967-68, a few years after the Civil and Voting Rights Acts of 1964 and 65 respectfully were passed by Congress and signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson. But I couldn’t find footage of that campaign that was more than a couple of minutes long. But the video I did find is still pretty good. Dr. King, understood as a freedom fighter, that he was someone who fights for freedom, not the other way around.

Dr. King understood that of course it was important that all Americans be treated equally under law for all of us to live in freedom, but for America to be a real liberal democracy, we had to do something about poverty in America.

At the time of the late 1960s, was around 25%, perhaps twice that much for African-Americans. And that these people no matter their race to truly to live in freedom, they had to have economic freedom as well, the ability to support themselves and not forced to live off of public assistance and be forced to live in rundown ghettos, or be forced to live in rundown shacks in rural America. But be able to have a quality of life-like the rest of the country and be able to live in security.

The Poor People’s Campaign, or as I would call it the Campaign Against Poverty, was the next phase of the civil rights movement. They already established the Civil Rights Act, that no American would be allowed to be discriminated against based on their race, ethnicity, or gender.

The Voting Rights Act, establishing that no American would be allowed to be denied the right to vote based on race, ethnicity, or gender. But after that was a movement to fight poverty in America. To first bring awareness to the problem: :”This what we face as a country” and then hopefully come up with steps to address the issues of poverty.

They didn’t get to this part, MLK died in April, 1968, but this would’ve been the next phase of the civil rights movement, to go along with furthering non-violence, taking on the Vietnam War and perhaps fighting for human rights worldwide.

This is just one example of why the assassination of Martin King was so tragic, especially at the age of 39. An early middle-age man if that. Because there was so much left for him to accomplish and work on and he simply just ran out of time because of an ignorant escaped prison inmate, who should’ve been rotting in a Missouri prison instead.

ABC Evening News: ‘1972 VP Drama’

Source:ABC News- the ABC Evening News with Howard K. Smith, in 1972.

“This is a rare color clip of the 8-28-72 Edition, of the ABC Evening News. This is about the struggles of 1972 Democratic Nominee Thomas Eagleton, who was the VP nominee until he was dropped for mental health issues.

This is the first of a series of Videos, ending with Election Night 1972 from ABC News, which I will upload sometime.”

From Efan

George McGovern did a lot to bring in new voters to the Democratic Party by reaching to African, Latin, Asian, and Jewish Americans. As well as women and suburban voters, after the civil rights movement of the 1960s with a large number of Southern Anglo-Saxon Protestant Americans heading to the GOP because of civil rights. And you could credit Senator McGovern with even saving the Democratic Party because without these new voters, all of these new people would’ve ended up Republicans, or not voting at all.

Without George McGovern we would’ve seen Republican Congress’s, not just a Republican Senate, but the GOP would’ve won back the House and Senate well before 1994. Perhaps even by 1980 with the Reagan Revolution, because the Democratic Party would’ve been left with a large hole to fill. With all of those Southern voters heading to the GOP, without other voters heading to the Democratic Party. So by bringing in all of these new voters to the Democratic Party, Senator McGovern deserves credit for saving the Democratic Party. From future losses in Congress and the White House after 1972.Democrats added to their majorities in Congress in 1974. And they won back the White House while holding both the House and Senate in 1976.

The Democratic Party paid such a heavy price for it in 1972, yes President Nixon was pretty popular, but they were a very divided party between establishment Progressives who wanted a united party to face the Republicans in the fall and the anti-war New-Left Socialists that wanted to take over the party and return it to where it was in the 1960s and build on the New Deal and Great Society. And George McGovern also deserves credit for running the most disorganize convention in the TV era.

Even if Senator Tom Eagleton didn’t have the pass mental health controversy going on, George McGovern not just loses, but loses going away. The Eagleton Affair (as it was called) was just another reminder of how disorganized the Democratic Party was in the early 1970s. And it’s until 1975 or so after the Watergate affair that the Democratic Party finally recovered at the presidential level, from what went on in the late 1960s.

Salon: Willa Paskin- Interviewing Anna Gunn: 'Skyler Might Kill Walt'

Source:Salon Magazine- Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn.

“Things are pretty bleak for “Breaking Bad’s” Skyler White, played by Anna Gunn. Trapped in her marriage to Walt, her increasingly malevolent, manipulative meth-lord husband, she’s terrified for the safety or her children, but unable to see a way out. With just two episodes left in the first half of “Breaking Bad’s” fifth season, it is simultaneously hard to imagine how things could get much worse for Skyler, and even more difficult to think that they could get better.

Gunn spoke to Salon about Skyler, her predicament, her depression and the possibility of her killing Walter White.

I’m extremely worried about Skyler. It’s getting really stressful to watch her. Was it stressful to be her?

It was. It really was. There were days on set where it was like, “Wow, it’s hard to live in this place.” And thank God for Bryan Cranston being so hilarious and great, and pretty much our whole cast and crew, so we have a lot of levity. But I had to dig deep into some pretty black stuff this year. As an actor you wait for this kind of material, but it can also be very emotionally exhausting.”

“A memorable clip from Breaking Bad – Season 5: Episode 14, ‘Ozymandias'”

Source:Breaking Bad- Walt vs Skylar.

From Breaking Bad

One of the cutest mommies you’ll ever see. Skyler White (played by the beautiful and adorable Anna Gunn) comes off at least what I believe as a ‘babe in the woods’ (great Goodfellas line) in Breaking Bad, at least in the first season. I didn’t become a regular viewer of this show until the third or fourth season.

Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston) doesn’t start off as a criminal. He’s someone who get into the meth business to save his life and get the treatment that he needs for his cancer, as well as to support his family. He’s a woefully underpaid middle-age science teacher in New Mexico. And goes into the meth business to again save his life and support his family. Skyler, his wife starts off this series as a homemaker, who other than her husband’s cancer believes he’s a good honest man, living a normal life.

As the first season moves along the White Family (Walter, Skyler, and their son) is essentially broke. Walt, is bringing in the only income to the family. Forty-thousand-dollars a year as a high school science teacher. 2008-09, the start of the Great Recession and when it was at its worst, no economic or job growth, even with Baby Boomers retiring.

Skyler goes back to work as an accountant. She’s an accountant, not some former stripper bimbo married to one her former clients that she fell in love with. She’s an educated an intelligent person and knows her family is going to need money and a lot of it. Especially with her husband in the hospital on a regular basis getting treatment. The accountant part is key here, because she figures out her husband has extra money here. Which is where this series gets very interesting.

This is when Walt is getting is meth business going and becoming successful with his high school dropout partner. She figures out that he’s in the drug business, but doesn’t turn him in. Maybe she’s worried about what will happen to her if she does that. Maybe she’s worried about what will happen to the father of her son who has cancer. Maybe she doesn’t want to lose his income from his business, because again they need the money.

The White Family which was pretty normal pre-cancer, now becomes very stressful and Skyler and Walt, now are arguing on a regular basis and even separate, but never actually divorce. This is really a great and funny crime drama with all sorts of great characters. And Skyler White played by Anna Gunn, is a huge part of that.

Curt Ammerman: 'Roadhouse Blues- Peace Frog: Jim Morrison and The Doors Tribute Band'

Source:Curt Ammerman- Peace Frog as Jim Morrison and The Doors.
"Acclaimed Doors Tribute Band Peace Frog, covers the Doors' "Roadhouse Blues" in Ventura, Ca. on 4-21-12"

From Curt Ammerman

Another large Lizard King (otherwise known as Jim Morrison) with another cover who really other than the outfit looks nothing like Jim Morrison.

If you're going to call yourself a cover band because you want to play the music as another band in particular, you should look and sound the part. The guy playing Jim Morrison looks like he could be a bad ass biker dude who always wears all black including leather jeans, which are very common with biker men and black leather boots. Which again are very common with biker men. As well as a big metal belt. Biker men tend to wear studded metal belts instead of Western concho belts.

Jim Morrison wasn't a biker dude. His recreational vehicle was a Ford GTO Mustang. And he even wore his black leather jeans in the California desert. Morrison was a blues rocker and his style was based off of Western and Indian wear. Not what biker men wear which is what the guy in this video looks like.

Bill Maher: ‘My New Rule for Todd Akin and the Republican Party’

Source:The Huffington Post- Real Time With Bill Maher.

“Republicans would like to pretend like Congressman Akin’s substitution of superstition for science is a lone problem but it’s not: they’re all magical thinkers, on nearly every issue.

New Rule: If your entire party tries to get rid of you, and you stay in, you can’t talk about how easy it is for a woman to push a stupid prick out of her body.

I don’t want to waste another second thinking about Todd Akin, and his theory that you can’t get pregnant unless your eggs are asking for it. Here’s the only thing you need to know about Todd Akin and human anatomy: he’s an asshole. What I want to talk about is how it’s not a coincidence that the party of fundamentalism is also the party of fantasy. When I say religion is a mental illness, this is what I mean: it corrodes your mental faculties to the point where you can believe in tiny ninja warriors who hide in vaginas and lie in wait for bad people’s sperm.”

From the Huffington Post

I think to understand Todd Akin you have to understand the Missouri U.S. Senate race between Senator Claire McCaskill and Representative Todd Akin. Representative Akin, probably represents a very rural, redneck even heavily Protestant district, where his positions on rape and abortion are not just mainstream, but perhaps considered expected.

The problem that Representative Akin is that even if part of Missouri looks like South Carolina and the capital of the Bible Belt, Missouri is essentially a swing state. Where you can’t be very far-right and can’t be far-left at all and expect to win statewide there. Representative Akin, might be able to get away with saying that women shouldn’t be allowed by law to wear tight outfits in public and work out of the home in his district, but not statewide.

The Todd Akin’s of the Republican Party represent not just the Bible Belt in Congress and in America, but the Saudi wing of Congress and America as well. A population of the country that might like bashing Islāmic terrorism and claim to be against it. But endorse a country like Saudi Arabia’s policies when it comes to social policy and women’s issues. Where women on a good day might be second-class citizens in their own country, but generally are treated as property of their men. They can’t even decide how to dress themselves in public, can’t drive a car, risk getting the death penalty if they cheat on their spouses, or boyfriends and I could go on, but I don’t want to be accused of sending anyone into a depression. That is the lifestyle and how the Christian-Right wants to see for American women in the land of the free. And that is where Todd Akin comes from.

Brent Cross: 'Home Run Derby- Mickey Mantle vs Harmon Killebrew'

Source:Brent Cross- New York Yankees CF Mickey Mantle, in the Home Run Derby.
"Home Run Derby Mantle vs. Killebrew #1"

From Brent Cross

Back in the late 1980s or early 90s or perhaps both, ESPN had a show called Home Run Derby, well they showed the rebroadcasts of these shows that were on in the 1950s or 60s, I watched this show during the week after school around 4-5 PM. And if you like the Home Run Derby at the MLB All Star game every year, then you should watch this show or check it out on YouTube or ESPN Classic or something and you are interested this type of thing.

This show was the ultimate slugfest, because they would invite two of the top power hitters in the game every week during the season. When these guys were healthy and playing everyday, so they weren't rusty or anything. And the idea was literally to see who could hit the most home runs on each show and it was a home run or nothing. Everything else was an out even a line drive off the outfield wall or something.

I like this show so much that my friends in the neighborhood and little brother would imitate this show or try to. Someone would throw batting practice and each of us would get three outs instead of nine. We did it a little differently but there were real outs, except for the fact that all of our hits had to be home runs or they wouldn't of count. Three strikes per out that sorta thing.

This was a very exciting show unless you hate baseball or something, because it would have the top power hitters in the game competing in it. And back in the 1950s and 60s, that meant guys like Ted Williams, Willy Mays, Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, Harmon Killebrew. With a guy throwing batting practice, just lofting the ball over the plate and then it's up to the hitter to hit a home run or he would be out. Unless he swings at a pitch thats called a ball by the umpire. Great show to see some of the best hitters in baseball every week.

Vovan Chel: Janet Jackson- Together Again Live

"Janet JACKSON - Together Again (live)"

From Vovan Chel

What I get from this song is how cute Janet Jackson sounds singing this song. The voice sounds like the voice of a little girl, but she sounds real good and looks real good singing like a beautiful sexy woman instead of a little girl. I believe that is just part of her being so adorable naturally where she can still come off as a little girl even in her forties (very similar to Raquel Welch) when Janet is in her seventies, she'll still come off as a very young woman. With her face, voice and body. Assuming she stays on course and continues to do such a great job of taking care of herself.

Janet is the cutest R&B singer of her generation. And yet she's also one of the best if not the best, because she has such a sweet voice as well as a good message and is able to be very entertaining and sexy and yet communicate a great message of love and tolerance.

In an era where America is so divided where you have one part of the country that is use to running everything on their own, with so many other different Americana emerging and ready to take their claim and be part of America as well. With the old guard not ready to lose power even as they are.

MTV: Janet Jackson- 1993 MTV Music Videos Awards

Source:MTV- R&B Diva Janet Jackson performing at the 1993 MTV Awards.

"Janet Jackson performs That's The Way Love Goes and If in 1993 at an awards show. This is in MUCH HIGHER quality than the other rips on here!"

From Janet Video

I was a 17 year old high school senior at this point in September of 1993 and I did watch most if not the entire show. But for the life of me I couldn't tell you anything else that happened that night (at least that MTV showed) other than Janet Jackson and her crew's performance at this show. They were so beautiful and sexy, that they literally stole that show on MTV.
Source:MTV- Janet Jackson & crew, at the 1993 MTV VMA's.

Janet Jackson is a beautiful baby-faced adorable woman who have never looked more than half her age (at least according to her face) with a great body and has always been proud of that. That is what I get from this 1993 performance of her. With basically wearing nothing more than a bra, to go with her skin-tight denim jeans and wearing black leather boots as well. With dancers wearing the same thing.

Janet's and her girls outfits are a very common look today with musical performers, especially beautiful women, but Janet doing this in the early 1990s and not only looking this way, but showing herself off on stage in front of her audience and I bet in front of a lot of young men as well.

Janet's sexuality has always been a big part for her shows, because she's always been a very sexy woman and she loves to dance and combines those two characteristics very well. A very beautiful, sexy, woman with a great personality, to go long with a lot of talent as a performer. And is someone who always gives her fans more than their money's worth.

Rumor in Town: MLB 1939-World Series-Cincinnati Reds @ New York Yankees: A Look at Yankee Stadium

Source:Rumor in Town- Old but Spectacular Yankee Stadium.
"Extremely rare color footage of the 1939 World Series between the Yankees and Reds. Many consider the 1939 Yankees one of baseball's greatest teams. Rumor In Town."

From Rumor in Town

I think Yankee Stadium was a great place for baseball, but I’m not sure it was a great ballpark. And what do I mean by that? That when I think of ballparks I think of places that primarily for baseball and we're designed primarily for baseball. To the point that if you tried to play another sport there the park would look funny because of how the seats would have to be rearranged for football or soccer to be played there. And that sight lines would look funny as well. I think of Fenway Park as the example of a great ballpark. Wrigley Field would be another one and modern ballparks like Oriole Park Jacobs Field would great modern ballparks.

Yankee Stadium was a great place for baseball, but it was a stadium a very big one at that. At one point it seated something like seventy-thousand for baseball and like eighty-thousand for football. Yankee Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium and one of the few good if not only great multipurpose stadiums that were ever built. Baltimore Memorial Stadium would be another one and Tiger Stadium in Detroit would be another one as well. And Yankee Stadium the old one at least was certainly a great baseball castle, but I wouldn’t put it down as a great ballpark, because it was a multipurpose stadium instead.

Trish Byonic: Janet Jackson's- 'Number Ones Tour in Melbourne- 3/11/2011'

"Janet Jackson @ Number One's Tour Melbourne - 03.11.2011"

From Trish Byonic

Janet Jackson Up Close and Personal Down Under. I guess that could be taken in a sexual way, because Janet is a very sexual sexy woman, but Melbourne is a big city in Australia and it is down under. Janet of course is from America where she was born and raised. (Gary, Indiana to be precise) But she's an international performer who is also popular in Europe and Asia, including Australia.

She's reached the level of Whitney Houston I believe as far as how popular and now talented she is as part of that generation. Entertainers born in the 1960s and 1970s, Generation X which is also my generation. Because again because of how multi-talented she is and how physically attractive. Great singer, great writer, great dancer, very intelligent woman who is also a great communicator. A beautiful baby-faced adorable woman with great style and never afraid to show herself off and beautiful a performer she really is. And is someone who'll probably be perfuming live for another thirty-years or more if she chooses to.

G Irafe: Janet Jackson- Melbourne (2011)

Source:G Irafe- Janet Jackson: Up Close and Personal, in Melbourne, Australia.

"Janet concert Melbourne nov 3 2011. G J B and Janet."

From G Irafe

To be completely honest with you: I don't watch Janet Jackson in concert (well actually on my computer) because I believe she's a great singer and go out-of-my-way to see and hear her sing when I get the opportunity. I do like some of her songs like Black Cat and a few others, but what really gets my attention about her is how she moves and how she plays to her audience. How she gets her crowd involved, moves around the stage and of course Janet Jackson as the dancer.

Janet is simply one of the most talented, sexiest and best dancers and entertainers in the business today regardless of what style of music you're talking about. She's always in great shape, she's very talented and creative as a dancer and she knows these things and is more than happy letting her fans (perhaps especially guys) see her perform on stage.

People always get their money worth and they go to Janet's shows and see her online, because she's such a great entertainer and a sexy dancer. And that is what brings me back to her over and over.

Patrick Knup: Janet Jackson- Pleasure Principle: Rhythm Nation Tour (1990) in Tokyo

Source:Patrick Knup- Janet Jackson, live and in concert in Tokyo in 1990.
"Janet Jackson - 06 Pleasure Principle - Rhythm Nation Tour Tokyo"

I think the Rhythm Nation album is Janet Jackson's best album. Black Cat is a great classic rock song is also a great video. Love Will Never Do is a great love song. (If that is what you're looking for) The tour and concerts are great (not that I ever went to one) just from seeing them on YouTube.

Whatever you think of Janet Jackson and I'm a fan, but not her biggest fan, I believe you have to give her credit for being a great live performer. She's a great entertainer, because she has the voice, she looks great, beautiful, adorable, great body, she moves so well and is a great dancer.

But The Pleasure Principle similar to Justin Timberlake's I'm Bringing Sexy Back song, I just don't get the point of it. Where did sexy ever go and what is The Pleasure Principle. Great video and again she looks great doing it performing it with her singing and dancing. But what's the point of the song? Or is it just some pop culture catch phrase that she was hoping would catch on and just rely on that. Instead of thinking it was a real song with real substance.

Elle: Janet Jackson Together Again- Adelaide, Australia 2011

Source:Elle- Janet Jackson: Up Close and Personal, in Adelaide, Australia.
"Janet performs Together Again and includes a small tribute to MJ as well as spoken word introductions and thank yous....

From Elle

Janet Jackson the great sexy dancer. That is exactly what she is, because she's always in great shape at least when she's performing and moves so well and knows exactly how to move. And always surrounds herself with other great sexy dancers and apparently isn't worried about being shown up and outperformed.

Janet of course has her great style and how she looks. A beautiful baby-faced adorable woman who has a great woman's body even if she's as cute as a little girl. A woman who loves tight jeans and tight denim and looks great in them with that great body and style. And not afraid to let the world know how sexy she is and how well she moves.

Whatever you think of Janet's music and I'm not exactly the president of her fan club, because I don't like all of her songs, but she's a hell of a performer. Because she has such a sweet voice and always an interesting message and moves so gracefully and looks so sexy. She's one of the best performers not just from her generation, but I believe who has ever lived.

Emmanuel Goldstein: The Open Mind With Richard Hefner- 'Dr. Martin L. King: First Interview in 1957'

Source:Emmanuel Goldstein- Dr. Martin L. King, on The Open Mind with Richard Hefner, in 1957.
"The first extensive TV Interview with Martin Luther King on The Open Mind - The New Negro (the 1957 term)"

From Emmanuel Goldstein

I think what Richard Hefner was talking about in his opening statement, is how he believed African-Americans (which is what they weren't called back in the 1950s) were perceived in the 1950s by Americans, European-Americans, especially Anglo-Saxons. That they were seen as submersive and as people who didn't want the constitutional rights they were entitled to under law and they were just happy to be in America. Which is one thing that Dr. King was fighting against in the 1950s and 60s.

Liberal democracy, worked pretty well in America except for African-Americans and perhaps other racial minorities. Which is why the civil rights movement was so important and Reverend Martin L. King comes along in the 1950s part of the civil rights generation that he in large part created. And concluded that for America to be a true liberal democracy, that all Americans should have their liberty and not just a special few. That liberal democracy had to work for all of us, not some of us, or we weren’t a real liberal democracy.

As President Kennedy said, we shouldn't would be a country that’s half free and half slave, with some Americans with the liberty to live up to their full-potential in life and get out of life what they put into it, with everyone else being dependent on what the special few gave us. And that forced segregation and racism was wrong and unacceptable and that this can’t be tolerated in a liberal democracy.

And Dr. King knew how to fight back against this and mobilized people who felt the same way. Dr. King’s political skills were also very good, he understood that not all Caucasian-Americans were racists and believed in forced segregation. He also knew that not all Southern Caucasians were racists either and reached out to those people a well.

Another thing that Dr. King understood that when of this interview in 1957, that African-Americans made up roughly 10% of the American population. And for his movement to ever get off the ground, let alone succeed, he was going to need the help of other Americans. Similar to the gay rights movement today.

Which is why Dr. King reached out to Caucasians, Jews, Latinos and others, especially in the media, to get the message out. And did a lot of interviews in print and broadcast. To spread the movement of non-violence, peace and equal rights for all Americans and again not just for the special few.

Thats a big part along with their keen intelligence that made Dr. King and Malcolm X so special. They both really knew how to work the media to get their message out. This is also what made people like Richard Hefner so special like this, who understood the greatness of people before they were famous.

Dr. King, understood the power of the media, especially the electronic media before a lot of other people did. Similar to Jack Kennedy and knew how to use it to get their message out and spread the word of what they were trying to say and be able to communicate. Not only to their followers, but also to bring in a lot of other new followers. And had a great message to get out and communicate to America.

AlterNet: Will Doig- Tampa: 'Screwed Up Tampa- Is Home To The GOP Convention'

Source:AlterNet- Tampa, Florida, home to the Christian-Right GOP & porn.
"This piece originally appeared at Salon

Poke around the White House website and you can still find the hopeful “fact sheet” for a 324-mile high-speed rail line linking Miami, Orlando and Tampa.

No such system exists, of course — it was killed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott. Today, there’s a 40-acre vacant lot where the Tampa terminal would have stood. And when Republicans arrive for their national convention in about a week and catch a glimpse of it, they’ll likely see a big win. In fact, the GOP will find a lot of things in Tampa that exemplify their commitment to not investing in the future.

“The trend [in Tampa] today is to say, ‘We don’t need it — no new taxes — we are not going to invest anymore,’” former Pinellas County Commissioner Ronnie Duncan recently told Tampa Bay Online. “And that message resonates from not only the constituents, but the leadership of the Republican Party.” You could fairly call the GOP vision for the country the Tampafication of America."

From AlterNet:

"Strip clubs may not be the most politically correct venue for those attending the Republican National Convention, but that doesn't mean Tampa's well-known adult hot spots won't be ready for the influx of visitors. One place is bringing in a stripper who looks like former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin..."

The adult entertainment capital of the United States, is hosting the Christian-Nationalist political party that is the Republican Party in name only, ( or RINOS ) since a lot of them don't even believe in the concept of the republic at all and would prefer a Christian-Theocracy for the United States.
Source: Good Ole Woody's Blog- Mitt Romney & his new friend
I make the old joke you would have a better shot at seeing prostitutes at a Southern Baptist Convention, than fill in the blank. Whatever fill in the blank is at the time, like you would have a better shot at seeing prostitutes at a Southern Baptist Convention, than the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series, the Cleveland Browns even playing in a Super Bowl. Or a hurricane in the Arizona. ( If you want to be more age appropriate )

But since Southern Baptists dominate the so-called Republican Party now and with Mitt Romney having to pretend he's actually not a Yankee ( New York or otherwise ) and trying to convince people he's really just from down South and has never had the progressive or liberal views that he's had in the past about American culture and social issues in general, the so-called Republican Party or Southern Baptists at a porn convention, no longer sounds like an Onion story.

It still sounds like a joke and something that you would read from The Onion, but they're actually going to be in the porn capital of the United States, if not the world for their summer national convention. Which sounds as ridiculous as seeing Kanye West perform at a Ku Klux Klan rally country music singer Kenny Rogers performing in Compton, California. Something just seems off about that story and looks like who ever prepared this convention didn't do their homework. And didn't stop to realize that probably most if not a majority of Republicans would like to outlaw pornography altogether ( not just Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum ) And yet the GOP is going to the biggest city in America if not the world where pornography is not just legal, but performed all over town and in multiple ways.

It would be like a gamblers anonymous group, having their convention or meeting in Las Vegas or Atlantic City. Or an alcoholics anonymous group having their convention or meeting in Boston or New Orleans. A gay therapy conversion group having their convention or meeting in San Francisco. Something just seems really off about this and it's like you need a punch in the face to make sure you're not dreaming about this when you see this news and story.

From The Daily Journal

We knew ( we, meaning anyone who follows American politics objectively ) that there was serious hypocrisy amongst the so-called Christian-Conservative movement in America as early as 2005-06. With Christian Pastors who claimed that homosexuality is a sin and would then be caught cheating on their wives with men and sometimes even boys. U.S Representative Republican Mark Foley, having to resign from the House in 2006, because he had an affair with a Congressional male intern. That these so-called Christian-Conservatives would have one view in public that was against what they saw as threats to American culture like homosexuality, adultery, and pornography, but then in private would engage in the activities that publicly they would put down and even call for the government to outlaw them.

Source: The Critical Mind- Donald Trump, in bed with the Christian-Right
But now take it up ten years and we have a Republican that is still in bed with the Christian-Right and in the House has seats drawn up for them so they can’t get reelected without the support of the Christian-Right, but who ignore or are completely unbothered when a Republican is caught doing the acts that they claim to hate. Republicans running on draining the swamp in Washington in 2016, throw all their political support around a man who has built his own personal swamp for himself and his allies just as long as they don’t question anything that he does and deliver on the polices that he ran on. Of course I’m thinking of President Donald Trump and his EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt. Using taxpayer dollars who further their own business’s in President Trump’s case and on Administrator Pruitt’s case, flying first class on taxpayer’s dime, when coach is always available for him and giving his staff extra financial bonuses that aren’t deserved on taxpayer dime and there’s whole other list of Pruitt corruption that I’ll save you from, for now.

Source: Bilgrimage- The Christian-Right & Donald Trump
We have a Republican Party that claims to be a Christian-Conservative party, who twenty years ago believed that President Bill Clinton, should not only be impeached for lying about sex, but should’ve been impeached for adultery alone. Who now twenty years laters have no issues with adultery and lying, just as long as the serial liar and adulterer is a Republican they approve of. And of course I’m talking about President Trump once again and his multiple affairs and bad behaviors that he always gets caught lying about. And then attempting to cover it up with either made up conspiracy theories, or trying to deflect and blame someone else.
Source: Salon Magazine- Stormy Daniels, President Donald Trump & FRC President Tony Perkins
The modern Republican Party, is now Donald Trump’s latest reality show. That from looking at it you would think it’s filmed in either Manhattan, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, or Hollywood, but instead from my hometown of Washington coming to you at taxpayers expense. Publicly the Republican Party might still be the a Christian-Conservative party, but privately when no one else is looking is where it still counts. People tend to be their most honest for good and bad when they believe no one else is looking or listening. And in private the Republican Party has no issues with the issues that they saw as threats to American culture and molality just ten years ago, just as long as the people engaging in those activities aren’t loyal to Donald Trump and come from his Tea Party Nationalist wing of the party.

Shawns Girl 69: Janet Jackson Runaway- Sydney, Australia- 5/11/2011

Source: Shawns Girl 69- Janet Jackson, Up Close and Personal in Sydney.
"Janet Jackson performs Runaway at the Sydney Opera House on her number ones up close and personal tour."

From Shawns Girl 69

Up Close and Personal from 2011. Janet Jackson's greatest hits album and even tribute album to her fans, as well as herself. At this point she had already had twenty-five years in the music business as a singer and already had three great successful albums. Control from 1986-87, Rhythm Nation from 1989-90 and Janet from 1993-94.

Janet is about 9-10 years older than I am so this is first album that I got to see from her as an actual adult. What you also see from Up Close and Personal is a new style. She was big on black denim jeans and black boots in the early 1990s and even black shirts. But she really went hard-core with that this decade and made black tight t-shirts, with black Levi's, black military boots, a black studded belt, a huge part of her look.

With Janet's body and great ability as a dancer she really makes the black T on denim with boos look fly. Where guys such as myself not only want to hear her sing, but see her move and check her out. Because she really is a beautiful baby-faced adorable woman with a  great body. And hasn't lost a thing physically in twenty-five years.
