CBS News: 60 Minutes Presents Crime and Punishment: The Capture of James Whitey Bulger

Source:The New Democrat

James Whitey Bulger. To say that James Whitey Bulger is not your average criminal would be like saying that Larry Bird isn’t your average basketball player. (Another famous Boston figure) I’m not a criminologist obviously and yes it also snows in Minnesota, (thanks Captain Obvious) but Whitey is a criminal genius. And if he gets to spend any real-time outside of his cell in the hell hole that he’s going to die in his fellow inmates are going to be able to learn a lot from him. Unless they’re serving life without in prison as well. Here’s a guy whose guilty of at least nineteen murders and yet up until recently hasn’t spent much of his life in prison. He’s been on the streets for most of his life.

Neo-Nazis
I think the only way you can become a Nazi especially as an adult is like the guy in this story. Is that by in large you’re a good person and you’re doing well in life, but suddenly you find yourself out of work and your bills are piling up and you go years without at least a full-time job. You lose your home and perhaps now living a one-room apartment, or maybe in the basement of your parents home. And you’re trying to figure out where you go from there and you run in people you should have nothing to do with. And they start telling you about the dangers of the other races. In this case non-Caucasians in America especially non-Anglo Saxons. I have a hard time believing that a good person whose grown up with people from other races and ethnicities would suddenly become a racist for no apparent reason.

True Crime With Aphrodite Jones: OJ Simpson (2010)

Source:The New Democrat

I can’t say that I’m shocked about what happened to O.J. Simpson post 1997 wrongful death civil case against him that he lost and of course he literally getting away with murder in 1995. Actually not what happened to him, but what he did to himself, but I’m certainly surprised by it.

O.J. will never get mistaken for a genius or for the twin of a genius, perhaps the evil twin of a genius. But I would have to think he was smart enough to at least have people around him who were smart enough to tell him, “look O.J., you literally just got way with murder here. Even with the 1997 judgement against you, you still have the resources to live the rest of your life fairly comfortably. Don’t blow it! And stay out of trouble and enjoy the rest of your live as a free man”. O.J. never figured that out and literally pushed his luck.

The message O.J. got was, “I just got away with murder here! I must be a God or something, lets see what else I can get away with!” Again we’re not talking about a genius here or someone who would be confused as the twin of a genius. And instead figures what the hell and starts his own criminal career around 2006 or so and is apparently broke and decides he’ll steal to support himself. Dumb narcissistic people do dumb things, because they believe they are either untouchable, or don’t deserved to be touched, or a combination of both. And what happened to O.J. is that he finally got caught in 2007. And is now doing the time in prison in Nevada that he should be doing in California for the 1994 double homicide.

CNN: 'OJ Simpson On The Run- Ford Bronco Chase: June 17th, 1994'

Source:Z-Facts- The most famous Ford Bronco in American history.
"Football and film star O.J. Simpson led police on a low-speed chase along the Los Angeles freeways shortly before his arrest for the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman. This video, aired on CNN, features the sound from OJ's phone conversation with Homicide Detective Tom Lange. Listen as the accused killer tells Lange that he is the one who "deserves" to be hurt."

From Z-Facts

I remember this very well, because I had just graduated from high school. And was in Delaware vacationing with my family and I believe I was watching the NBA Finals on NBC. And then of course NBC News breaks in with live coverage of this chase which was different from other Los Angeles car chases, which of course aren’t rare in Los Angeles.

What made this care chase different was that it involved a celebrity and NBC News and other news organizations breaking into a championship series, or whatever they were showing and stopped showing, to cover this tabloid story.

This is just another example and perhaps the biggest example of what news has become in America. At least TV news, where it's not what’s important to cover that is important, but what is popular to cover and how you make the most money. Covering that story to spend so much time and energy covering one murder trial. Not that it shouldn’t of been covered, which of course the supporters of the coverage will say. But to cover it basically at the expense of every other news story thats going on.

So-called reality TV, which of course isn’t reality TV, but tabloid TV, didn’t start in the late 1990s or 2000s, with Survivor on CBS. It started in the mid 1990s in 1994 with OJ Simpson. And his famous duel murders and his Trial of The Century. Before social networking and before Google, but right in the early days of cellphones and the Internet. And when cable news was becoming very important with the 24 hour news cycle.

You also have to remember that OJ, was not just an actor, but an accomplished one and perhaps not someone you want doing your taxes for you, but smart enough and with the personality to get people’s attention and put the focus on him. He knew he was going to jail and perhaps never coming out and had money and a gun in his truck. And I guess was going to make a run for Mexico, but perhaps smart enough to know he probably wasn’t going to make it.

The Ford Bronco Chase, was the ultimate publicity stunt and so-called reality TV. But it wasn’t what is called reality TV, which is not reality TV, but tabloid TV. Where producers of those shows encourage people to act out to get the most ratings possible.

But this chase was real reality TV. A grown man, who up to this point was a very well-liked and respected man. Who had a Hall of Fame NFL career and one of the top 5-10 running backs of all-time. Who put together a solid sportscasting career with NBC Sports and acting career and did commercials. Who was going through a horrible time, I imagine and perhaps feeling horribly guilty about his two murders and perhaps lost it and didn’t know what to do about it. But again, we are talking about an actor here and this could’ve simply been a publicity stunt. But this was real reality TV and not made up.

The Lip TV: Allison Hope Weiner- Interviewing Dr. James Fallon: 'The Brains of Serial Killers'

Source:The Lip TV- The human brain: gotta love it.
"Dr. James Fallon joins Crime Time to talk about the neuroscience that sets a psychopath's apart from other brains. He talks about the testing that is done to see the neurological patterns of serial killers, how those are distinguished from "normal" people, and what can be done with the...

From The Lip TV

I would love to go in the mind of a serial murderer ( as I call them ) to see how can someone be either so sick or evil which is different that would drive them to take the lives of innocent people and in some cases enjoy murdering people. As a lay person here I would say that you would have to be a person who lacks a conscience to put it simply. Someone who simply doesn't give a damn about anyone other than perhaps them self who gets off on hurting people because they don't care and get pleasure from that. People like Ted Bundy who was a famous serial killer as well as rapist from the mid and late 1970s who enjoyed raping women to the point it was the only kind of sex that he enjoyed. And he enjoyed killing them as well.

Source: Skavlan- Dr. James Fallon
So, when you have someone who perhaps doesn't fit in well in mainstream society for whatever reasons, who perhaps has a temper and low tolerance for negativity and criticism and has an out of the world view of them self that they don't believe they have any flaws and there also psychopathic, someone like a Charles Manson from the late 1960s and his Manson Family cult and his young soldiers who murdered the people he wanted them to murder, you have a very dangerous person who a normal person has no business being near, because their life can be in jeopardy from this person as a result.

Psychopaths and psychopathic killers, can seem normal on the outside and even have positive characteristics like intelligence, charm, physical attractiveness as well. Ted Bundy, from the 1970s was someone with all of these characteristics and they use these characteristics to bring them in so they can make their moves on theory victims and eventually murder them. Charlie Manson, who wasn't physically attractive. Very short and slightly built, but who was very smart even though he didn't have much of a formal education, but had a pretty good idea of how the real world worked and spoke to people in a way ( his followers ) that got those young people to not just follow him, but to do for him whatever he wanted. The Manson Family, could be responsible for up to a 100 murders or more in the Los Angeles area and we only know about 10-20 of them.

The serial killers ( or serial murderers, a term that I prefer ) that I mentioned are people who murdered in private life as private citizens and as horrible as a Ted Bundy, Charlie Manson, Richard Ramirez from the 1980s were, they're almost minor players compared with dictators who ran countries with their regimes around the world who've simply murdered people because they saw them as threats to their political power. People like Saddam Hussein, Joesph Stalin, Mao, and other dictators around the world. Serial murderers, aren't reserved just for people you hear about on crime reports or the local news, but for people in government who run countries and use their power to eliminate people they see as threats to their regime.

Big Miga Boo: 'Death by Execution "The Robert Andrew Lookingbill Story'

Source:Big Miga Boo- Texas convicted murderer Robert Andrew Lookingbill.

"Listen as Mr Lookingbill explanis the pains of facing death by execution in a Texas State Prison."

From Big Miga Boo

During this whole interview you never hear Robert Andrew Lookingbill either declare that he's innocent, or that he has any remorse for his crimes. The only thing that you hear from him is about what he'll miss if he's put to death for his crimes and what the people he cares about and who cares about him would miss, if he's put to death.

I get the fact that families and friends of convicted murderers miss out when their friend or relative is put to death for the crimes they committed. But it's hard to feel sorry for any murderer, even if that person is put to death for their murders, especially when they don't even take responsibility or show any remorse for their crimes.

National Geographic: Breakout- Prison Romance

Source:National Geographic- the actress who plays the nurse and the actor who plays George, the inmate who breakouts in this episode.

"Breakout S01E05 :Prison Romance"

From Documentaries

I saw this program I believe in the summer of 2010. And what I got out of this was this woman, who was very attractive, but must of been so lonely and desperate that she would be open to do anything, as long as she found a man that were keep her company and be able to share their lives together. And she found that man who she thought was that guy in prison who was looking for someone to play, to help him do what he wanted to do. Which was to get out of prison and continue with his criminal career.

This episode of Breakout, is like a so-called, reality TV, dating show, or online dating network episode, gone real bad. Where you have two desperate people who don't know each other at all. Where you have a nurse who should know a helluva lot better, then to get involved with a hardcore prison inmate, whose looking at maybe 40 years in prison, before he ever sees the free world legitimately. But desperate people tend to do desperate things and let their desperation call their actions.

ABC News: Good Morning America- 'Rodney King Dead at 47: Cause of Death From Accidental Drowning?'

Source:ABC News- Rodney King dead at 47.

"Police suggest cause of death after face of 1991's L.A. riots died in a pool."

From ABC News

I was fifteen and a freshmen in high school, in March of 1991 when the Rodney King police brutality story broke. And I saw it on CNN with my family as we were eating dinner that night and saw the video of those LAPD patrol officers ops, beating a man lying on the ground, after they pulled him over for a Traffic Violation.

It seemed like a strange story for me from the beginning. I heard about police brutality in the past but I don't remember ever seeing it even on TV, the other interesting thing about this story to me, was that even though Rodney King was pulled over for a traffic violation, there were like four Cops there. To just one person, King being the driver, they felt the need to pullover one man with four cops, over a traffic violation.

Hearing stories about Caucasian cops beating and abusing African-Americans is not new, perhaps especially in Los Angeles. But four cops to pull over a motorist for a traffic violation and of course these cops getting off, my words for this incident, as far as not having to do time for it. Even though they are caught on video, beating this man on the ground with knife sticks, pulling someone over for speeding.

From what I know about Rodney King, I'll be the first person to say the man wasn't a Saint. He had incidents with law, before and after this incident. But to his credit, in response to the LA riots, Rodney King asked the country or at least Los Angeles, a simple very fundamental but important question: "Can we all get along?" That this is not the way to handle in justices, that these riots are only hurting the people who live in these communities. Not LAPD or the cops that should've been punished for these crimes.

Rodney King is a man who suffered a brutal beating at the expense of law enforcement officers, who must of been as mad as hell about that. And yet he takes the high road and asks the question: "Can we all get along?" Not accusing all cops of being thugs or all Caucasian cops of being racists. Or throwing racial slurs at them. But he wanted to know if LA could move past this and move forward as a city.

Rodney King had a rough 47 years, everything from having a drug addiction, a criminal record, blowing a lot of the money he made from the lawsuit he won against LAPD. But he did seem at least at one point, be getting his life turned around and moving forward from this. I'm not shocked to hear that King has died today, even at the young age of 47, but I'm just a little disappointed by it, because he could've done a lot more with his life, then what he did.
